The Intuitive Women of Iran – A talk by Tanaz Assefi

  • The Pop Up 315 Lillie Road London, England, SW6 7LL United Kingdom (map)

During the month of January, The Pop-Up in Lillie Road near West Brompton Station is showcasing 42 artists over a 20-day period.

On the 27th at 6.30 pm, Alison Graves and I will be discussing the dying tradition of mothers making handmade dolls to hand down to their daughters in Iran and the role these dolls have played throughout history. We’ll explore the psychological perspectives and beliefs that these dolls pass down intuition to future generations.

Alison Graves is an integrative Arts Psychotherapist (UKCP, HCPC) working at the Courtauld Institute of Arts and in Private Practice and as an arts and wellbeing facilitator at the UK’s leading refugee choir, Citizens of the World Choir.

Alison and I met whilst we were both working at MumsAid, Alison was working with the mothers as a psychotherapist and group facilitator, and I ran the Art of Self Expression Sessions assisting new mothers to use their inner creativity as a self-care tool.

ABOUT THE POP UP

The Pop Up, Lillie Road is a free, temporary pop-up retail space that aims to support and grow new local businesses by offering a pressure-free environment in which to learn how to promote and sell their products. Set up by The Earls Court Development Company, it offers brands visibility and awareness which can be one of the biggest challenges for any emerging artist, designer, student, or small business owner.

The Pop Up is in and amongst a vibrant pop-up high street serving food and drink offerings to the local residents, while supporting independent businesses and makers with unique retail spaces, located just moments from West Brompton Station.
